Operating seven days a week, Wine Valley Horse Trails offer one hour, 2 hour and four hour rides, either with, or without wine-tasting as part of the package. Other options include a two hour introduction ride that includes dinner, wine and drinks; evening and moonlight trails including sundowners; and a full day trail that includes two wine-tastings and lunch. All rides start off on the Rhebokskloof Wine Estate and continue into the Paarl Nature Reserve. Riders can expect to enjoy spectacular views of the Du Toits Kloof mountain range, as well as the majestic Table Mountain to the south and the Swartberg farming areas to the west.
The horses used by Wine Valley Horse Trails are a variety of cross breeds that are particularly suited to the terrain of the area. These South African, Boerperds, Thoroughbred, Friesian, Warmblood type crosses are well schooled and mild-tempered animals which respond well to all levels of riders – from total beginners to advanced.
As an alternative to horse-back trails, Wine Valley Horse Trails offers horse-drawn carriage drives through the same area. Visitors can experience the wonderful atmosphere of a by-gone era, when life was a lot more relaxed and people took time to appreciate the beauty of nature. Packages on offer include a 15-minute drive around the beautiful Rhebokskloof Wine Estate, a one or two hour wine-tasting carriage drive, a champagne breakfast, full-day and half-day trails that include wine-tasting and a meal or snacks, depending on which package is chosen.
In response to the popular quad biking trend, Wine Valley Horse Trails has recently introduced guided quad bike nature rides on bush trails surrounding the Rhebokskloof Wine Farm.
