This year, the kite festival will be held on the 25th and the 26th October 2008 at the magnificent Zandvlei Picnic Area in Muizenberg. Entry to this delightful event is a mere R10 for adults and R5 for children and there are many attractions and activities for everyone to enjoy. The DJs from Heart 104.9 FM will also be broadcasting live from the festival, giving festival goers the opportunity to catch a glimpse of their favorite DJs in action.
But the feature that draws everyone to the Cape Town International Kite Festival is the hundreds of different shaped, sized and colored kites that decorate the skies. International kite fliers from across the world such as Indonesia, Europe and Australia will be entertaining the crowds with their maneuvers, as will the kite surfing demonstrations, stunt kite shows and paragliding demonstrations. There will also be a tea garden, Coca Cola Gigg Rigg, food stalls, workshops and competitions, such as the Edukite Schools Competition, and many give-aways. And if the kite bug bites anyone who attends the festival, they will be able to purchase their own kite at any one of the kite stalls and try their hand flying kites with the rest of the enthusiasts.
The festival attracts approximately twenty-five thousand people each year, who come to the Cape Town International Kite Festival to support positive mental health and to enjoy two days of explosive action, entertainment and fun. For a unique festival experience and to enjoy a leisurely day under the Cape sun, everyone is encouraged to attend the festival that does not disappoint.
