Eastern Cape Beaches

Tranquil, Peaceful and Beautiful

Some of the most tranquil and peaceful beaches can be found along the coast of the Eastern Cape. Beaches in major cities such as Durban and Cape Town, are often overcrowded due to the number of visitors and locals trying to soak up the sun. Even though some of the popular beaches in the Eastern Cape can get crowded, there are many quiet areas along the coastline where visitors are able to sit back, enjoy the sound of the ocean and relax in their quiet surroundings.

Many also prefer the beaches in the Eastern Cape because of the slightly warmer water and wonderful surfing locations such as the world famous Jeffrey’s Bay. In East London, beaches such as Kidd’s Beach and Gonubie are favorite spots amongst locals, while residents in Port Elizabeth enjoy Hobie Beach, Sardinia Bay and the picturesque picnic areas along the road that leads past Seaview and Schoenmakerskop. Of course these beaches also offer more than views, with watersports such as scuba diving, swimming, fishing, horse riding, boating and jet skiing being enjoyed all along the coast. For pristine beaches and great summer fun, head to the sunny beaches of the Eastern Cape.

Jeffreys Bay, located in the Eastern Cape, is consistently ranked among the top five surf spots in the world and is home to the world-famous Supertubes, a long, fast, and perfectly formed right-hand break ideal for experienced surfers.
