Sheikh Yusuf Kramat

Hoewel goewerneur Simon van der Stel Sheik Yusuf hartlik aan die Kaap op 17 Junie 1693 verwelkom het, was dit nie die blyplek van sy keuse nie. Hy was bekend vir sy rewolusionêre teenkanting teen die Nederlanders en het beroemd geword vanweë sy vele ontsnappingspogings en daarom is besluit om hom by die Kaap aan te hou. Sheik Yusuf en sy aangangers het die plaas Zandvliet ontvang en daar het hy ‘n heenkome verskaf aan vlugteling slawe. Hy het die boodskap van die Islam godsdiens verkondig en word gesien as een van die vestigers van hierdie geloof in Suid-Afrika. Dit word ook vertel dat die Sheik en sy familie die eerste lesers van die Koran op Suid-Afrikaanse gebied was.

‘n Kramat is ‘n heilige plak van die Islam en edelmanne is tradisioneel in ‘n kramat begrawe. Regoor die Kaapse Skiereiland is daar na benadering twintig kramatte waarvan die een van Sheik Yusuf die belangrikste is. Hy is op 73 jarige ouderdom oorlede op 23 Mei 1699 en weggelê in ‘n kramat in die vorm van ‘n moskee.

Geleë op ‘n klein heuweltjie bokant Faure, bevat die kramat ‘n bed bedek met kleurvolle kwilte waaronder Sheik Yusuf begrawe is. Hoewel sommige historici beweer dat sy oorskot na Oos-Indië geneem is, aanvaar die meerderheid dat hy rustig begrawe is in die kramat in Kaapstad en dus hul pelgrimstogte na die plek voortsit om hul respek te betoon.

All event organizers will receive payouts on a monthly basis. Payouts will include the total revenue from ticket sales, minus the applicable platform service fees. Organizers are responsible for ensuring that their payout details are accurate and up to date in their account settings.
